Description
An RJ31X jack is used to allow your hardwired alarm system to take over control of an existing shared telephone line when it needs to dial out, disconnecting you if you are on the phone or if the phone was left off hook. Your telephone carrier requires an RJ31X jack to be connected when using a POTS line. If they are called out to troubleshoot a line issue and they don’t see an RJ31X jack to disconnect the alarm from the telephone line they will generally cut the alarm telephone connection and have you reconnect (or call your local security dealer) yourself.
Cord is also ideal for connecting alarm panels to cellular communicators such as the Telguard TG-1 series when no RJ31X was originally installed with your system. Makes cellular connection much easier!
