STEP 1

Know Your Alarm System’s Brand and Model

We can monitor most of the popular alarm systems on the market, even if long discontinued by its manufacturer.

Wireless Systems: These alarms will generally have no metal box containing all of the hardwired alarm wiring. Use the button below to identify “by pictures” the wireless systems we can monitor.

Identify My Wireless Systems

Hardwired Systems: Hardwired alarm systems have wires going between the alarm panel in a metal box to each sensor on doors, windows, motion detectors, and more.  Wireless sensors may also be used when a brand specific RF receiver is attached to the main system, but they are still considered hardwired systems.

The first step is to open up the metal alarm box and look at the wiring diagram pasted on the inside of the metal door.  The brand and model, or at least series, will be shown on the diagram.

Honeywell/Ademco hardwired panels generally have a 1″ square black PROM chip with a white sticker located roughly in the center of the main circuit board.  The top line will begin with WA and tell us the actual model as well as firmware version. The example below shows this system is a Vista-20P with firmware version 10.23.

Vista-20P Prom Location

DSC brand hardwired panels will have a sticker on the main circuit board in the metal box.  The model will begin with PC if a standard PowerSeries alarm panel, or HS if a PowerSeries NEO version.  It’s important to know which series you own based on the sticker.

DSC PowerSeries Firmware

We currently monitor the following panels:

Honeywell/Ademco Hardwired 4110XM, 4120XM, 4140XM, 4140XMP, Vista-10XE, Vista-10P, Vista-15P, Vista-15PSIA, Vista-20SE, Vista-20P, Vista-20PSIA, Vista-21iP, Vista-21iPSIA, Vista-21iPLTE, Vista-40, Vista-50P

First Alert Hardwired FA148CP, FA148CPSIA, FA168CPS, FA168CPSSIA

Honeywell/Ademco Wireless LynxPlus L3000, LynxTouch L5210, LynxTouch L7000, Lyric Controller, ProA7, ProA7Plus

ADT Hardwired SafeWatch Pro 3000

2GIG Wireless GC2, GC2e, GC3, GC3e, Edge

Qolsys Wireless IQ2, IQ2+, IQ4, IQ4Hub, IQ PRO

DSC Hardwired PC1555, PC1555MX, PC5010, PC1616, PC1832, PC1864, HS2016, HS2032, HS2064

GE/Interlogix Hardwired Concord 4, NX-4, NX-4V2, NX-6, NX-6V2, NX-8, NX-8V2. NX-8E

GE/Interlogix Wireless Simon XT, Simon XTi, Simon XTi-5

Alula Wireless Connect+, Helix

If your existing panel is not supported by us, or does not have the features you want, a replacement can be made.  Because of the complexity of swapping out hardwired motherboards and its associated programming, this is best left to a local alarm dealer.

Wireless alarm systems however are modern in design and packed with great features such as remote control from a mobile app on your phone, zwave control of lights, locks, thermostats, video streaming of compatible video cameras and doorbells.  They are perfect for DIY homeowners to install themselves.  We have free tech support available 7 days a week for our monitored customers if you need assistance.

We highly recommend the following two brands and models below.  Each are DIY friendly for installation and setup, use easy and quick installation of wireless door, window transmitters, motion detectors, smoke and heat detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, flood sensors and more.  Both have an Alarm.com cellular and WIFI communicator built in along with a z-wave hub, 7″ touchscreen display, all-in-one system combining the keypad, siren, 24 hour backup battery, wireless receiver, cellular and wifi communicator, all in a single wall or desk mounted enclosure.  These two models can be found on Amazon and other sites.

Qolsys IQ 4 319.5Mhz – See More

While we offer remote tech support by phone, text, email 7 days a week, we do not provide any local installation or repairs of alarm panels and wiring.  We are strictly an affordable, no contract, alarm monitoring dealer rather than an installation dealer.  That said, less than 2% of tech support calls require a local technician for troubleshooting and repair.

Your panels’ Installer Code is a special code used to gain entry to the system’s configuration so you, or your dealer, can add/delete zones and sensors, change entry/exit delays, and more.  In most cases your alarm systems Installer Code is required for service, and ALWAYS for landline connected systems.  Each brand alarm system has a default Installer Code, but if changed by the installer, you may need to reach out to them to get this code.  You can easily test to see if your panel is still using the default Installer Code.  We recommend leaving the Installer Code at its default value.  Some dealers change the code in order to lock you in for monitoring since there is no security reason to change this code.

Click the button below to test the default Installer Code for many systems.

Test My Default Installer Code

Some brands, such as Honeywell, have an easy way to reset the Installer Code without erasing any data, with the exception of their Lyric and ProA7 panels which have no reset mechanism.

DSC Installer Codes can be reset, but ONLY by factory defaulting the alarm panel which erases everything.  Reprogramming would need to be done by a local alarm dealer which can be expensive.

Interlogix/GE panels have no Installer Code reset for the Concord 4, but their NetworX NX series, and Simon XT series can be factory defaulted erasing everything, but does allows the default Installer Code to be again used. Reprogramming would need to be done by a local alarm dealer which can be expensive.

Step 2

Know Your Panel’s Communication Path

Alarm monitoring pricing and features depend on the communication path your alarm panel will use to communicate with our central station.

Landline/VoIP (Good) This is the least expensive option ($8.95), but only applies to hardwiredLandline / VoIP Monitoring Service panels.  A real landline (POTS) is best, but VoIP through your router is also possible but considered highly unreliable by panel manufacturers.  Only the major cable companies such as Xfinity, Spectrum, Verizon, ATT usually work.  VoIP adapters such as MagicJack do not work with alarm panels.  Because landlines use a dial-out type of connection, remote control with a mobile app is not possible.

NOTE: If you previously used a POTS line but recently switched to a VoIP connection through your router, it’s very possible the “new” phone line is not connected to the control board in the metal box.  However, if you used VoIP through this router with your last dealer, it should work with us too.

IP (Better) We can monitor using Ethernet and/or WIFI depending on your hardware’s capability.  Its fast and reliable except during a power outage when your router goes offline.  Remote control capability using a mobile app is possible depending on the service used such as Alarm.com, Alula, AlarmNet.

Cellular (Best) – This is the most reliable since the connection cannot be cut outside and will stay available during a power outage. Remote control capability using a mobile app is possible depending on the service used such as Alarm.com, Alula, AlarmNet.

Cellular communicators must be 4G or 5G LTE using either Verizon, ATT, Telus4G LTE Cellular for Alarm System Monitoring (Canada).  3G service has already been discontinued in the US and soon in Canada.

In general we support Honeywell AlarmNet IP/Cellular communicators, Alarm.com Cellular/IP communicators, Alula IP/Cellular communicators, and Telguard TG-1 Express Cellular communicators.

You will need to cancel service with your current alarm dealer before signing up with SafeHomeCentral.com.  This is done for two reasons; No need to pay two dealers for monitoring, and more importantly, IP and/or cellular communicator hardware must be “released” before another dealer can activate service.

Honeywell AlarmNet and Alula communicators use a 12 character MAC and 4 character CRC address for registration.  Only one dealer at a time can have the MAC registered.  If you recently cancelled service with your previous dealer just give us a call and we’ll be happy to confirm your MAC has been released.

Alarm.com communicators/panels are registered using a 15 digit IMEI address.  Only one dealer at a time can have your IMEI registered with Alarm.com.  You can check to see if your IMEI has been released by your previous dealer using the button below.

Landline connected alarm systems have no hardware that needs to be “released” like IP or cellular connected panels.  However, still be sure to cancel your landline service with your current dealer!

Alarm.com IMEI VERIFICATION

Landline connected alarm systems have no hardware that needs to be “released” like IP or cellular connected panels.  However, still be sure to cancel your landline service with your current dealer!

Both IP and Cellular communicators register by either MAC/CRC addresses (Honeywell AlarmNet, and Alula), while Alarm.com communicators use a 15 digit IMEI address.  Use the button below to find your MAC/CRC or IMEI address.

Find my MAC or IMEI address

Unless you are using our Landline service via POTS (Copper wires) or VoIP (router), no landline is required.  IP and Cellular plans do not need a landline connection.

It’s not difficult to migrate a hardwired panel currently using landline/VoIP to cellular or IP (Ethernet or WIFI).  The Alula BAT-Connect is a good Ethernet, WIFI, 4G/5G LTE cellular communicator that works with almost all hardwired panels on the market.  The only requirement is the panel must support ContactID format for central station communication. Pretty much all panels from 2000 on support ContactID.

You can get more details on the Alula BAT-Connect here.  This communicator can be found on Amazon and other places.  Not difficult to install DIY.

The Alula BAT-Connect uses our Alula monitoring service.

Step 3

Choose Your Alarm Monitoring Service

Click on an icon below to choose this service

Alarm.com cellular alarm monitoring
Honeywell Alarmnet with Total Connect 2.0
Telguard Alarm Monitoring
M2M Cellular Alarm Monitoring
Landline alarm monitoring

The communicator and communication path determine what service provider is required.  For example if you have a hardwired alarm system connected to a landline (including VoIP) then choose our Landline Service.  If using an Alarm.com cellular communicator, then you want one of our Alarm.com monitoring plans.

Options available for many of our monitoring plans include IP and/or cellular service (we pay the cellular carrier fees), remote control app for your phone, video services, home automation (z-wave) control of lights, locks, thermostats.

Once you select the service needed, just sign-up right online.  Pick your plan, Add to Cart, Checkout.  Once the payment is accepted a GREEN Monitoring Enrollment Form will pop-up.  Do NOT close your browser screen before this enrollment form appears.  Complete the enrollment form and we can generally get you online within a few hours 7 days a week.

Alarm monitoring can be signed up on an annual basis which saves 15%, or on a month to month basis which loses the 15% discount.  Both options are no-contract and can be cancelled at any time without penalty.

A valid credit card is used to create a subscription plan so that your card is charged each month or each year for renewals.  The billing date is always on the day of the month you signed up.  For example if you signed up for a monthly monitoring plan on the 21st of the month then a charge will be made each month on the 21st until you cancel service. We cannot move the renewal billing date to a different date such as the beginning of the month for example.

An email will be sent three days ahead of any charge detailing the renewal with price. If your credit card has expired or changed, an email will be sent if the renewal payment fails. You can login to your account on our site to update your credit card or just give us a call and we’ll make the update over the phone.

Absolutely.  We do NOT lock you in with a contract like most dealers.  You may cancel at any time without penalty.  If you signed up for an Annual plan, but have not used the full 12 months, then we will prorate your account like it was a standard month to month account for the months used and refund the remainder.

To cancel service just login and go to My Subscriptions.  Select Cancel Immediately and all future billing will end. We do not require a 30 or 60 day notification of ending monitoring like the big guys.  Simple, hassle free!

Step 4

What To Expect After I Checkout

At the completion of Checkout be sure to complete our green Monitoring Enrollment Form that pops up once payment is accepted.  You can also use our generic Monitoring Enrollment Form too if you closed out of Checkout too quick.

Monitoring Enrollment

Once we receive your completed Monitoring Enrollment Form, a tech will create your Alarm.com and central station accounts, generally within two hours of signup 7 days a week.

You will receive a Welcome email from Alarm.com once we create your account.  This email will guide you through setting up a password for the Alarm.com mobile app.  You will NOT be able to login however until your cellular communicator activates with Alarm.com.

No changes to user codes or zones will occur when activating Alarm.com service.

Z-wave devices (lights, locks, thermostats) enrolled in the alarm panel will still be there though unless you signed up for our Enhanced or Gold plans you will have no control of these devices from your Alarm.com app.  Any Z-Wave rules created previously will need to be recreated since rules are not stored in the panel but instead in the Alarm.com account.  Once your previous Alarm.com account is closed by your earlier dealer these settings are lost.

Alarm.com video cameras and MyQ gateway information is stored in the Alarm.com account rather than panel so will need to be re-enrolled into your new account.  Be sure to add a Video plan such as ProVideo with Analytics in any of our Alarm.com plans except Dispatch Simple which has no mobile app.

Once we receive your completed Monitoring Enrollment Form, a tech will create your Alula and central station accounts, generally within two hours of signup 7 days a week.

You will receive a Welcome email from Alula once we create your account.  This email will guide you through setting up a password for the Alarm.com mobile app.  You will NOT be able to login however until your communicator activates with Alula.

No changes to user codes or zones will occur when activating Alula service.

Once we receive your completed Monitoring Enrollment Form, a tech will create your Honeywell AlarmNet and central station accounts, generally within two hours of signup 7 days a week.

You will receive a Welcome email from Resideo (Honeywell) once we create your account.  This email will guide you through setting up a password for the Total Connect 2.0 mobile app if that option was selected.  You will NOT be able to login however until your communicator activates with AlarmNet.

No changes to user codes or zones will occur when activating AlarmNet service.

NOTE:  If using a Honeywell Vista-15P, Vista-20P, or Vista-21iP panel please enter the following from your keypad:

  • Enter your Installer Code (4112 is the default code unless changed) followed by 800.  “20” will display if in Program Mode.
  • Enter *96 then *99 to Exit.

Once we receive your completed Monitoring Enrollment Form, a tech will create your central station account, generally within two hours of signup 7 days a week.

You will receive an email with instructions how to change the central station telephone numbers and account number.  This is easy to do from your keypad but requires a valid Installer Code to make the changes.  We are happy to walk you through these changes over the phone too.

No changes to user codes or zones will occur when activating landline service.

History Builds Trust!

Vanguard installed our original alarm system back in 1990.  When we decided it was time to modernize, not only were these people still in business they hooked me on DIY and I saved big $$$.  Brian helped me upgrade from landline to cellular which was way easier than I thought. Can’t recommend enough.

Easy, Easy, Easy

Swapping monitoring companies was not the challenge I thought it would be.Tim was great to work with helping me choose the right plan and options. My last dealer sold me too many options just not needed.  Saved a lot of money and who doesn’t love controlling everything from their Phone!

Great Support When Needed

Programming my Vista-20P panel was the biggest concern (fear) for my DIY project but Andrew walked me through a lot of it plus programmed my panel over the wire. Boom – I was up and running in no time.A great DIY experience!
