History Builds Trust!
Vanguard installed our original alarm system back in 1990. When we decided it was time to modernize, not only were these people still in business they hooked me on DIY and I saved big $$$. Didn’t have to rip and replace everything, just upgrade the panel. Can’t recommend enough.

Wireless Is The Ticket!
Putting in my own security system was not the challenge I thought it would be.Tim was great to work with helping me choose the right wireless system for our townhouse.Saved a lot of money on equipment and monitoring and who doesn’t love controlling everything from their iPhone!
Jimmy and Beth T. – Fort Worth, TX
Great Support When Needed
Programming the Vista-20P panel was the biggest concern (fear) for my DIY project but Chris walked me through a lot of it plus programmed my panel over the wire.Boom – I was up and running in no time.A great DIY experience!

Our Second DIY System
I bought my first DIY burg alarm more than 12 years ago from Vanguard Security. When we moved and needed an alarm system it was a natural to buy from these guys again.Easy to work with and great monitoring which is basically free with my insurance discount.

Upgrading your existing security system doesn’t have to mean replacing everything which your “local” alarm dealer will always recommend. Devices and services not available when your alarm system was originally installed can many times be added to these older, but functional home security systems. This includes both wired and wireless alarm systems.
The top feature our upgrade customers ask about is “remote access”, the ability to arm and disarm their security alarm system from anywhere. This is where the Interactive Services part of our alarm monitoring offerings comes in.
Many older burglary alarm systems can utilize basic interactive services by simply adding a compatible cellular communicator. Now that is an easy and inexpensive upgrade!
SafeHomeCentral can help with upgrading (modernizing) your existing alarm system and of course recommend suitable choices for a first-time home security and automation system.
We are an authorized dealer with all major security manufacturers and service providers. We know the inside and out of Honeywell/Ademco, DSC, Interlogix/GE, 2GIG, Alula/Resolution, Qolsys and more alarm systems.
We get many calls a day asking for recommendations on wireless DIY home security systems. While we carry all the major professional grade brands and systems, we do have our favorites based on installation experience as well as customer feedback regarding their experience with the products.
#1 The Qolsys IQ Panel 2+ has taken the top spot as our pick for best overall security and home automation system for DIY installation. Qolsys was recently acquired by Johnson Controls who also owns DSC giving Qolsys strong financial health for the rapidily growing wireless company (division). Their IQ Panel 2+ has everything you would want in a security system: large 7″ touchscreen, easy navigation, bluetooth arm/disarm, encrypted wireless sensors, and of course simultaneous dual path communication to Alarm.com through LTE cellular and WIFI Internet. The IQ2+ is the easiest of all our advanced security systems to configure. We of course can remote program panels no charge but this panel is just so easy to add wireless sensors. For Interactive Services remote control of panels we definitely prefer Alarm.com to Honeywell’s Total Connect 2. TC2 is a great app for Honeywell systems but Alarm.com has more features for the same price. This alone gives the nod to the IQ2+ as our #1 pick for DIY.
If considering upgrading an existing wireless system the Qolsys IQ2+ has a choice of three legacy RF boards for compatibility with other brands of wireless: Honeywell and 2GIG (345Mhz), DSC (433Mhz), and GE/Interlogix and Qolsys (319.5Mhz). The IQ Panel 2+ also includes a DSC PowerG RF daughter board as well which has the best range on the market today and other numerous features.

#2 The Honeywell Lyric is the flagship of our wireless offerings. Lyric is their current full feature wireless panel with a great range of features and options. Honeywell has the edge on reliability and by far has the broadest array of available sensors on the market. The Honeywell SiX series of wireless sensors have a longer range plus are encrypted for better security. The Lyric system is also backward compatible with Honeywell’s legacy 5800 series of wireless sensors which is helpful if you are upgrading from an older Honeywell system. No need to replace all the sensors.

#3 A close third choice but still very strong is the Alula Connect+ (formally Resolution Helix) wireless security system. Installation is simple. Just place the Connect+ unit under a desk, entertainment center, anywhere near a wall outlet and Internet RJ45 connection. Connect+ can optionally use WIFI if direct connection to your router is difficult. There is no keypad on the panel because the Alula Connect+ was designed for smartphone control, though remote keypads are available for traditional control of the system too.
